Used for centuries to build long-lasting homes, some of which are still standing today, brick, block and stone continue to be the building material of choice for home buyers in Ontario. Based on recent studies, more than 90% of consumers said they would prefer to buy homes made of masonry products such as brick and stone, instead of homes made with other finishes such as wood, vinyl siding or stucco.
In a study commissioned by Masonry Ontario, and conducted by Redfern Research, 1,500 adults living in Ontario were polled to determine consumer attitudes and awareness of masonry products. The results indicated that Ontarians believe masonry products to be longer-lasting and increase resale value of their homes. This can be directly measured as a home built using masonry products has a 6% higher resale value than one built using other exterior finishes.
